Sleeping a little more…

January 24, 2008

As I write this post, the baby is sleeping in his crib. Now, to most people this may not seem like a big deal, but it is for us! He does not do that very often! Remember, this is our 3rd child. We know how to lay babies down in a bed to sleep, but this one just refused to stay asleep for the first 6 weeks. He would start to squirm and wake himself up as soon as we laid him down. He has some tummy troubles, which I suppose has been at least part of the problem…he just could not seem to get comfortable. Over the past couple of weeks, he has been sleeping in his bed for a while at night, and lately he has been up to 3 to 4 hour stretches in the crib…yea!!!! That is a major accomplishment. He still doesn’t nap in the crib very well during the day, but will sleep for a little while at a time in his vibrating bouncy seat.  He is still eating about every 2 hours during the day, so between that and his unwillingness to sleep, we don’t get much else done around here. I told my friend Machella the other day that I decided I will get my house clean when my kids are grown :) . I usually manage to get supper cooked, and sometimes I even do the dishes afterward :) . I’m averaging answering emails 1 to 2 weeks after they are received, and, well, obviously not spending a lot of time on my blog. However, I have read the Harry Potter books 2 through 5 in less than a month, as I have been reading a lot while feeding the baby. Anyway, hopefully we are making progress and will eventually catch up on all the things that are being put off for the time being!

My husband has had much more interesting posts than I have lately, so if you haven’t already done so, take a look at his blog called Jake’s Outdoors!

Quick update

January 14, 2008

Yes, it has been a while! We had a great trip to Alabama; we even stayed longer than we had originally planned. We were able to spend time with family and visit some friends, too, while we were there. I did not even check my email while I was gone, which means that if you have emailed me I probably haven’t gotten back to you yet…but I will :) ! The kids had a wonderful time playing with cousins, and with Grandmom and Grandad. Grandad got lots of playing outside time while we were there :) . Grandmom and Grandmother may still be finding things to put away in the bookstore from where the kids were playing there. We all enjoyed the visit, and Jacob is already looking forward to another trip in the summer. Now we have to get back to our housework and schoolwork. We did get a few new homeschooling supplies while at Mom’s bookstore, so we have lots to do! Happy New Year to everyone!
