My son has been asking for beer lately. Please do not stop reading now; you need to get the whole story. My husband and I do not drink beer, and there is none in our house. However, we do have root beer. When JonDavid talks, he tends to say the last part of words. For example, giraffe is “raf” and elephant is “phant.” And root beer is “beer.” I generally don’t try to work on my kids’ speech skills at the age of 20 months, but maybe we should make an exception this time!
What do you want to drink?

Enjoying our garden
So what will we have with our green beans and squash tonight? Our garden is doing well, and we have gotten a lot of produce already, especially considering that it is not a very large garden. I have 25 packs of green beans in the freezer, and we have been eating fresh ones for supper, too. We also have okra, cucumbers, squash, and green peppers. The tomato plants are huge and absolutely loaded with tomatoes. I have picked two so far, but expect many of them to be ripe within the next few days. I am hoping to make some pickles and salsa. We are really enjoying the fresh produce, and we’re thankful for God’s bounty.

Wordless Wednesday–Kids at the Columbus Zoo
Surfing Sunday #12
I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! We had fun, complete with a family cookout and watching neighborhood fireworks. The odd thing is that it does not feel like July. The temperature over the past week was unseasonably cool, even for West Virginia. I’m sure the heat is coming again, though. We did get some needed rain last night and today, and the garden is doing very well.
Here are a few links that I thought you might enjoy:
Meredith at Like Merchant Ships is full of simple but elegant ideas. Her “Cold Dinner Delivery” looks lovely and delicious!
Read “Soggy Hot Dogs and Messy Kids” at flipflops and applesauce for another fun idea!
I just started reading Heart-to-Heart with Diane, and came across her post “Peasant Blouse Mania.” I just love the peasant blouses that her daughter is making, and I love seeing girls learning to sew and enjoying it!
Michelle at Scribbit posted about making “Fold-Away Doll Houses.” This is a cute and fun idea, especially for those of us who do not have a lot of space to work with. I expect we will be trying to make one of these sometime soon!
