I was looking for a simple Spring craft for the kids to do, and I found “Coffee Filter Butterfly Clips.” Skylar actually made a butterfly similar to this with our homeschooling group, but I thought it would be something all 3 kids could do. We followed the instructions on the Kaboose site, except we just used a marker to draw a face onto the clothespin instead of using wiggle eyes. Basically, you just use watercolors to paint a coffee filter and let it dry. Then fold the filter accordion style and clip on a clothespin. Spread out the folded filter to form wings, and use a piece of chenille stick to make antennae. These are very cute and easy. Even JonDavid painted some, although he got about as much paint on himself as he did on the coffee filter (make sure you use watercolors
). After the butterflies were finished, we clipped them onto the curtains for some Spring decoration!
